Flavor Profile Differences

Barrel influence is the main separator.

  • Yellowstone Select: A revived historic brand from Limestone Branch. Light and creamy, with toasted oak, vanilla and peach and a short, peppery finish. Part of the proceeds support Yellowstone National Park.
  • Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select: Barrels pulled from the top of the rickhouse, where the temperature swings are hardest, and it shows as considerably more oak than any standard Jack. A genuinely different proposition from the black label.

Which One Should You Choose?

  • Go with Yellowstone Select if you want a light, creamy everyday sipper with a historic name at a slightly lower price point and without hunting for it.
  • Go with Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select if you want a distinctly oakier, more concentrated Tennessee whiskey with barrel-to-barrel character.

Best enjoyed rocks, highball, old-fashioned (Yellowstone Select); neat, rocks (Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select).
